Guided Snowshoeing

Our guided services are designed to meet your needs. We can customize the tour for you and your group.

In order to ensure the highest quality outdoor experience, Tamarack provides each participant with tour-specific gear, which could include:

  • Snowshoes
  • Cross country skis
  • Powder skis
  • Backpacks
  • Personal transmitters
  • Adequate supply of food and water for the duration of each outing
  • Guide to guest ratio of 6:1
Certain tour itineraries require use of Tamarack's chairlifts and/or travel by snow cat, both of which are included in the package price.

Backcountry Ski Tours

$25.00 per person per hour, $12.00 lunch add-on.
*Minimum 3 people

Tamarack’s Nordic & Snowshoe tours emphasize an exploration of the area on easier terrain where touring skis without metal edges can be used. This is a great introduction to skiing in the backcountry. Note: The Canoe Ridge Trails will be open in the Spring Only

How to Make a Reservation

Tours are scheduled based on availability. Call the Tamarack Call Center @ 325-1006 or Visit the Activity Desk in the Sports Dome (325-1030). Reservations are required within 24 hours of the tour! Credit card is required to make a reservation. Please give 48 Hours cancellation notice.”

Sample Tour

Backcountry Forest Trail 436 Ski Tour - Learn the basics of backcountry skiing on non-metal edged touring skis. This tour will involve climbing and descent on 436, plus some turns on the open slope on the return to the village. This tour is a low-angle, easy introduction to backcountry skiing.

Snowshoeing Tours

$25.00 per person per hour, $12.00 lunch add-on.
*Prices do not include access tickets
*Snowshoes not included

Snowshoe Tours can be geared towards ability & destination. Travel the lower snowshoe trails only OR travel to the summit. If a group plans to travel to the summit, expect the tour to be a minimum of 2 hours long.
(24 hour advance notice).

Sample Tours

Canoe “Power Length” Snowshoe Tour Details »
  • Minimum of 2 people
  • The Canoe power length loop is designed as a four- to six-hour tour.
  • Tours start from Packers Station and travel north of Tamarack State-leased land and return to Discovery Square.
  • Vertical travel varies between 1500' to 3000'.
  • The longer snowshoe tour is designed for the more advanced hiker.
  • Tamarack provides each guest with snowshoes, adjustable poles, a backpack, a snack and water.


Canoe “Cruiser Length” Snowshoe Tour Details »
  • Minimum of 2 people
  • The Canoe cruiser length loop is designed as a three-hour tour.
  • The snowshoeing aspect of the tour starts at the top of either the Summit or Tamarack Express Chairlift.
  • Participants travel along the ridge of the Canoe, which offers stunning views of Weiser and Payette Valley. The Canoe loop alternates between gladed and forested terrain.
  • Vertical travel varies between 700' and 1,500'.
  • Tamarack provides each guest with snowshoes, adjustable poles, a backpack, a snack and water.


Ski Trail Snowshoe Tour Details »
This is a very easy snowshoe tour especially designed for people who may have special needs. This tour will help those that want to enjoy outdoor activity, but may need to stay on terrain that will not be too challenging.


Wild Turkey Tour Details »
This tour is designed as an introduction to snowshoeing on snowshoe trails. This tour can be designed to be very easy to very aerobic.


Gemini Snowshoe Tour Details »
This is our most aerobic and strenuous lower elevation snowshoe tour, as you climb up the Gemini trail and return on Backcountry Forest Trail 436. This tour has the greatest amount of elevation change.
